ABOUT US
About 2 years ago, one of the now committee members was out for a walk with his family and as they walked through one of the towns parks thought "Wouldn't it be awesome to have a pump track right here in town?". He immediately sent Trevor Choffe, the towns fire chief and all around getter of things done, a message about the idea. Trevor is a major force in the town when it comes to youth initiatives with his Perth FireDawgs, as well as an avid cyclist and dad so it didn't take much convincing. They then presented the idea to town council and Council agreed as part of the 2019 budget to match the funding raised by the Firedawgs up to a maximum of $50,000. The next year was spent figuring out whether the idea was feasible and deciding that there needed to be more than 2 people working on the project. So in early 2019 the Conlon Bike Park committee, as it would soon come to be called, came into being.
The committee is comprised of a dedicated group of volunteers from the Perth area and is sponsored by the Perth FireDawgs Youth Initiatives as well as the Town of Perth. The rest of 2019 has been non stop action with the creation of the committee and the selection of a location and builder. With all of that done, we are now focusing on fundraising the money needed for construction (Spring 2020), upkeep and eventually expansion of the park. You can check out all of our fundraising efforts over in the fundraising section.
Last but certainly not least, none of this would be possible without the support of the many wonderful community businesses, individuals and organizations that have helped us along the way. They've all been very generous through donations of their time, money and passion for our wonderful town.
